THIS SONG
where does a song go when it goes into the air
does it float off in the universe searching for somewhere
maybe find its way to the radio inside your car
while you’re thinking bout me driving somewhere in the dark
does it end up on some dusty shelf in some old record store
just sitting on some vinyl no-one’s spinning any more
drift up through the atmosphere out beyond the stars
I just hope it finds a place down deep inside your heart
And all I’m trying to say is that I’m missing you tonight
this song is all I got right now, I’ll try to get it right
if I could find a note or two; some simple melody
just a spark of magic, would it bring you to back to me
you may never hear this but girl I hope you do
it may not sell a million, but my million, girl is you
you could make me richer than I ever hope is to be
I swear I’d make you happy girl if you could only see
oh, please come back to me

YOUR OWN KIND OF BEAUTIFUL
heaven knows
you’re the one to love me
let it show
everything is lovely
all you do makes you you
be your own kind of beautiful
that’s all right with me
your own kind of beautiful
is all i want to see
all i want to see
you make me dream of lover things
with your own kind of beautiful
i’m alright
as long as you keep smiling
no goodbyes
just fly with me a while
and like the breeze we’ll be free

Memory Box
was in the garage the other day
putting some of my tools away
I stumbled on an old brown box
the one you gave to-me
to carry on your legacy
I looked inside only to find
kodak slides and 35's of you and me
having laughs and playing catch down at the beach
ain't that the way every day oughta be
and its all right here
like it was yesterday
the time we shared
I keep locked away
every scrap of paper tells a story
and every picture talks
your love is still alive inside that memory box
Dustin’ off the checkerboard
we used to play in the den
I still wonder if you let me win
that red pinewood derby car
we built when I was 8
how many times did we sing along with that old Jim Croce tape
its funny how all these little things
remind me who I want to be
and I thank god you held onto the memories
you taught me that a moment worth living
is a memory worth saving
